Fred Sievert is both a nationally recognized business leader and a lifelong Detroit sports fan.
After a distinguished career spanning teaching, insurance, and corporate leadership, Fred retired in 2007 as President of New York Life Insurance Company, a Fortune 100 corporation. Along the way, he chaired influential industry organizations such as The American College of Financial Services, The Actuarial Foundation and The Life Insurance Council of New York.
During his career, he mentored rising executives (more than ten of whom went on to become CEOs of their organizations), and authored three well-received books on faith, leadership, and career growth. His work has been featured on Fox News, Fox Business, The 700 Club, and other major outlets. He holds degrees from Amherst College, Wayne State University, and Yale Divinity School.
Equally defining, however, has been Fred’s lifelong devotion to Detroit sports. His father
sparked that passion by taking him to games at Tiger Stadium, the Olympia, and the Silverdome, instilling a love that only grew stronger with time.
Fred became a longtime season ticket holder for all four of the city’s professional teams—the Lions, Tigers, Pistons, and Red Wings—and spent decades cheering, suffering, and celebrating alongside fellow fans. Known for his spirited discussions and debates with other fans regarding the management and performance of Detroit sports teams. Today, Fred continues that tradition with his son, Corey, a brilliant sports strategist who has inherited the family knack for breaking down games and outguessing even coaches and team executives.
